True Crime
We’ve heard it said for years that “no perfect people are allowed,” but what do we mean by that? Is that really true? Isn’t faith for people that have it all figured out and are good enough? No! Absolutely not. The Bible is full of stories of people who committed major crimes and made some of the biggest mistakes, but God redeemed their stories. God can redeem anyone’s story. In this series we’re exploring cautionary tales of murder and manipulation, stories of scandal and second chances. This week we are looking the story of Jacob.
Questions for Discussion
1. What is a dream you have for your life?
2. What makes trusting God’s plans difficult?
3. What do you think about the idea that God wants to bless you?
4. Jacob’s life and story are recorded in several chapters of the book of Genesis from 25:19 all the way through chapter 25. Take some time to review or reread the whole story. What are some things you see in common with Jacob’s story and things that still happen today? Maybe things you’ve done or experienced?
5. Do you believe God can truly change anyone? How have you seen God change people (maybe yourself)?
6. Blessing and obedience are two sides of the same coin. How have you seen God’s blessings in your life as you have tried to trust and obey him?
7. Pray together for courage to trust God with both big and small things in your lives.
