For the One
What was Jesus purpose in coming to earth? There are many good answers to this question, but what would you say? One of the simplest answers Jesus gives is to “seek and save the lost.” In fact, Jesus uses a parable of a lost sheep to demonstrate his purpose. He tells of a good shepherd who leaves the 99 sheep who are safe to go and find and rescue the one that was lost. That’s true not just of individuals, but of families, groups, communities, cities, states, and nations as well. Jesus universal mission to so seek and save the lost. To be our rescuer, savior, and redeemer. In this series, we’ll look at three different ways Jesus came For The One.
Questions for Discussion
- How are you doing? Take a moment to pause and reflect. Really dig deeper than just the surface level. How are you really doing? How’s your spirit? How are you feeling about life and your relationships? What’s bringing you life and joy and what’s dragging you down?
- When did you first trust Jesus with your life? Tell your story. If you haven’t, what’s holding you back?
- What does it mean to follow Jesus and live your life for him?
- Read Romans 10:9-13. What stands out to you and what do these verses mean to you?
- Think of the parable of the lost sheep. Jesus says the shepherd leaves to 99 to find the one. Who’s your “one”? The one person you are seeking out, praying for, inviting, and longing to experience the peace, love and hope of Jesus?
- Pray together. Pray for the people in your lives that you want to see begin a relationship with Jesus and to find new life in him.h Jesus and to find new life in him.
